BOBCAT AWARD

As part of the campfire at the Fall Campout, Pack 122 awards the Bobcat Badge to all the new scouts who have completed the requirements.

See the Fall Campout Page for more information.

GRADUATION

Our last pack meeting of the school year is the time when we award Rank badges and all other outstanding awards like arrow points. Last year, for the first time, we awarded them in an outdoor ceremony at the firepit behind the church. Below is a Tiger Den making Wolf rank and getting their new neckerchieves.

Graduation

CARNIVAL
After Graduation, we hold a "carnival" in which every den supplies a game and we eat hotdogs, award prizes and enjoy stories about the scouting year.

BLUE AND GOLD BANQUET

Most Cub Scouts Packs celebrate Scouting's Anniversary Week in February with a "birthday party" called the "Blue and Gold banquet." In nearly all packs, the Blue and Gold banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It is also Pack 122's meeting for February.

Pack 122 has traditionally had each Den decorate their tables in the year's "theme" and we have a speaker or game. For 2009, however, we have decided drop the theme and to focus on the ceremonies. This year we will award Religious Emblems and Arrows of Light. Then we will have the prestigious Crossover ceremony.

Since each of these recognize significant achievement, each gets its own section below:

B&G: RELIGIOUS EMBLEM

Relgious Emblems are Cub Scouting's way of encouraging members to grow stronger in their faith. Most religious groups have instituted programs that enable youth to earn a religious emblem. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. Pack 122 recognizes and congratulates the boys who have gone over and above their normal scouting duties to earn this award.

B&G: ARROW OF LIGHT

The Arrow of Light is a significant achievement and the highest award in Cub Scouting. As long as you are in Scouting, even as an adult, you will be able to wear the symbol of the Arrow of Light on your uniform.

B&G: CROSSOVER

The Crossover Ceremony marks the passage of a Webelo Cub Scout into Boy Scoutinng. Pack 122 has traditionally done the Crossover Ceremony directly after the Order of the Arrow ceremony in January. However, for the 2009 year, we felt it more appropriate to append to the Blue and Gold Banquet. An exceprt from the ceremony below:

"This ceremony marks an end of a journey in Cub Scouting. But even as this journey ends, another is just beginning. Here at the summit of Cub Scouting you have found the start of a new trail. This trail is a pathway that leads to the realm of our brothers in the sky, the Eagles...."
