The Pinewood Derby is an annual event of Pack 122 and all Cub Scouts. It is also probably the best known Scouting event among non-Scouters.

Included here is a "Description of the Event" for first-time racers. Our most recent handout with dates, times and locations for car check-ins and the race is included in case you miss the pack meeting or lose the handout. Another help for first-time racers are the Rules Sheet and the "Bulding your Car" instructions. Finally we have a Pack 122 "Hall of Fame" where we store the racing results for past years.

Every spring, (usually in April) Pack 122 conducts a second derby. While it is another fun race, the Spring Derby is less competitive and it requires a lot less construction work than the Pinewood. We rotate each year between either a Rocket Derby, Space Derby (not the same) or the Raingutter Regatta.

Pictured below are the 2008 Rocket Derby held in the HSE fields and the 2009 Raingutter Regatta held at our Teter Retreat campout. In 2010 we did rockets again and 2011 was a Space Derby. A first-ever glider derby is tentatively scheduled for 2012.
